Spring Fever: Trendy Tips

Share on Facebook0Tweet about this on Twitter0Google+1Share on StumbleUpon1
Yesterday Spring officially sprung. While some of us are spring cleaning, some of us are coveting the trends and outfits we can wear with warmer weather. I know I’m into it after a cold winter! Anyway, we’ve got a really great mix this week. From learning what exactly “Haute Couture” means, to various explorations of all the Spring Trends for this year, some really great remixes how to take it all in with your camera phone. I’d say it’s a great way to kick off the season, and hopefully you’re as excited as I am!

I want to start this week’s Links a la Mode by very quickly and briefly sending out thoughts and prayers to those most severely affected by Superstorm Sandy. We had a lot of great submissions this week, many of them Halloween themed! From Beetlejuice pants to costumes a la Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham, and appropriately dark black lace. We also had some very thoughtful, introspective posts on the self, personal style and a blogger donating her hair to locks of love.

{the blogger’s box} Examining the Latest Fashion Trends Style

For those of you who are lucky enough to live in a region where the seasons change, and even those of you who travel to those regions regularly, the excitement of the seasonal adjustment is exacerbated by the fact that the styles follow suit. That is right, my fashion forward friends: Fall is upon us, and the fashion trends and style for the season are just waiting to cloak you in faddism.
Fashion trends and style begin with your walk, so why not flex that promenade with the latest shoes for the season, beginning with chunky ankle boots! Sure, knee high and riding-style boots will always exist because their function and flexibility is just too much to live without. They are warm, and can be worn with skirts, pants and dresses effortlessly throughout the season, so there is no need to throw them out, or abandon their use. But they can be displaced for a bit of ankle boot action, with styles ranging from daring strappy and buckled designs to the streamlined smooth leather and laces version. Try a suede pair to highlight a knee-length, plaid skirt, or a leather pair with fringe to add a kick to your skinny jeans.

Next, studs are hot in a big way this fall, whether it is on a shoe or boot’s trim, heel, toe or adorning the entire surface. This look can be fashionably paired, no pun intended, with jeans, dresses, club gear and simple at work ensembles, depending on the exaggeration of the studding, of course. All things remain equal for office attire, year around: If you can wear it out on the town, it should probably not make its way into the daytime hours at the office; especially if it is a studded stiletto.

Finally, the always fashionable ballet slipper, Mary Jane and Oxford resume their center stage existence for yet another season, with some making their debut in studded, glittered and pump fashion (specifically the MJs). These classic styles are back in fun colors and patterns, so do not be afraid to add something funky to your inventory.

Do not be left out this fall by assuming your same old wardrobe of black pants and a knit sweater to the office, when you can easily spice up your attire with the latest fashion trends and style of mixing and matching your favorite knit sweater with a silk skirt.

Likewise, patterns should not escape your radar. Consider wearing a head to toe pattern in the form of pant suit, in an effort to show off your fashion prowess during the day. At night all over patterns can be just as easy to pull off with the addition of a pant jumper made exclusively of a fun print or, for the less daring, one of a solid bright red color. Also, striped pants are making a comeback in a huge way, so enjoy the lengthening look with reckless abandon!

Textures, including quilted or fur can be added to an outfit sporadically, but should not be worn from head to toe. Quilt pattern jackets, faux fur collars — which can be removable for added versatility — and angora sweaters are just a few textured add on pieces that will help you stand out in the crowd this fall.

Blessed are the fashion trends and style components that allow for an extra layer of sass to be added to your daily routine! Oversized coats are making their way onto the scene with brilliant two tone styles that are visible even when you are completely buttoned up. And while fitted suede and leather jackets never make an exit from the exciting trends, try something new in the form of shine by introducing a patent leather rain coat to your wardrobe. It is a fun addition, and can be paired with a striped pant for a brunch outing with friends effortlessly. Last, but not least, the pea coat has made its return. The standard, navy blue pea coat is back with a vengeance, and can be purchased just about anywhere — from your local mall retailer to high end boutiques — to add a little warmth to your style this season.
