{Choupette} The Most Famous Cat in the World

Karl Lagerfeld believes that his beloved cat, Choupette, She travels with Lagerfeld to St Tropez on his private jet “in the cockpit, with the pilot, she loves looking at the sky” K says.  She has three maids whose duties include keeping a diary of all activities and taking her to the vet for a check-up every 10 days. “I don’t take her,” Lagerfeld says. “I don’t want her to be furious with me.”.
"You know, personally, I don't even think I'm that famous," said Lagerfeld. "Now, Choupette really is famous. She has become the most famous cat in the world. I even get propositioned by pet food companies and things like that, but it's out of the question. I'm commercial. She's not. She's spoiled to death.  Obviously."
And daddy makes sure that Choupette is well attended at all times while he's working: she has three maids, and pays a visit to the vet for a check-up every 10 days.  "I don't take her," he told The Independent. "I don't want her to be furious with me."

{collaboration) Karl Lagerlfeld for Shu Uemura

After more than two decades of using Shu Uemura makeup to tint his dreamy illustrations Karl Lagerfeld cherry-picked a selection of hues for the Japanese beauty firm’s special holiday collection.

“It was not easy to make a limited choice with all the things they have and do,” explained the designer. “It all was supposed to go with the doll I designed for them, the mood, the spirit.” He was referring to the little character he created with red eyes and a jet-black bob, dressed in Lagerfeld’s signature high white collar and black tie. Known affectionately as Mon Shu.

“I wanted to invent my personal vision of a Japanese manga,” he said. (manga are comics created in Japan). Some outer packaging includes the seemingly hand-scrawled initials SUKL (for Shu Uemura Karl Lagerfeld). “Blending the borderless creativity of Karl Lagerfeld to the makeup expertise of Shu Uemura, we believe this collaboration will bring fun, excitement and modernity to the brand,” said Vincent Nida, Shu Uemura’s general manager worldwide.

{fashion history} The 66th Anniversary of the Bikini

It’s a nice hot day and nothing will beat the heat better than a nice cool dip in the pool. But do you know the history behind these beautiful swimsuit pieces that we wear today?

Swimwear has been around since the mid-1800’s, when the improvements in rail travel made it easier for people to travel to water. The original swimsuits are a far cry from the suits of today and back then, the ladies swimsuit looked more like a dress than a swimsuit. The women’s suit was a full length gown with weights sewn in the hem to keep it from rising in the water.

During the early 1900’s the size of the swimsuit became smaller, and more arms and legs started to show. By the mid-1900’s form fitting one piece swimsuits started to be popular. These were the suits that bathing beauties started to appear in. Shortly thereafter, the two piece bikini started to become popular but they didn't stick until the sixties, when liberating skin was finally widely in.

The modern bikini was invented by French engineer Louis Réard in 1946. He named it after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the site of an atomic bomb test on July 1, 1946. July 5th marked the 66th anniversary of the bikini and today the bikini is still popular, with the less fabric used the better.

So this monthVogue has provided a look back for us with images that belong to its fashion archives.
