{the blogger's box} Spice Girls

Edited by: Jess of Fresh Jess

This week, the Spice Girls got together to announce their support for the upcoming musical Viva Forever, which is inspired by their Girl Power movement. The fearless, limitless supergroup has come so far since they burst onto the scene 16 years ago. They’ve inspired millions of girls around the world to go after their dreams, and paved the way for bloggers like you and I to share our individual styles and passions with the world. My picks this week reflect how IFBers are spicing up their life this summer. From Beetlejuice and the streets of Tokyo to the bright colors and light fabrics of the season, the variety of style expression has never looked so good. Even Victoria Beckham would be proud!

{campaigns} Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013 Ad Campaign

Photographed by Juergen Teller, the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012-13 Ad Campaign features models Marie Piovsan and Marte Mei van Haaster. We love the the repertoire of emotions transmitted from the campaign pictures and the extreme level of craziness and insanity that those hats add to it.

{live from the runway} "World's Longest Fashion Show" Kicks Off in Paris

For the next three days and two nights in a Paris art gallery windowfront, model Brendan Ruck will call home a tiny cubicle of plywood planks furnished with a deck chair and folding table, a Z-bed and duvet, some books and paints and his iPhone for company for what is being billed as the longest-ever fashion show. Scott Sternberg, founder of the fast-growing US label Band Of Outsiders, took over the gallery to showcase a look inspired by the Occupy protest movement and make his Paris debut on the sidelines of this week's menswear shows.

"It's been good so far -- they're feeding me well," joked the 21-year-old Canadian as he emerged to change into the next of the 25 outfits he will be sporting through til Friday evening. "I made a few sketches and wrote a journal entry and I've been reading this book called 'Breakfast of Champions' that Scott gave me. It's pretty relaxed."

"It's not torture!" laughed Sternberg. "We're taking good care of him." Nods to the Occupy movement -- aside from squatting the gallery -- include camouflage motifs and "lots of hoods and ponchos -- what you think of when you see some poor group of protesters in the rain!". "He's staging a protest of sorts," said Sternberg. "But he has nothing to protest about -- it's just a fashion show."

Running from 0700 GMT Wednesday to 1900 GMT Friday, the event is being fed live to the brand's website at www.bandofoutsiders.com. It wraps up with a party Friday evening, before the gallery is turned into a showroom for fashion buyers next week.

{magazine cover} Marion Cotillard for WSJ Magazine

For Marion Cotillard, the difference between acting and modeling is that when posing for a photograph, only she knows the script. "I find it very interesting to be able to create your own story about what you feel in a certain outfit," says the French actor of the "romantic and gothic" clothes she wore for this month's cover shoot. "The difference is, the whole story is known only by you." On location in New York City, the sapphire-eyed 36-year-old drew upon her experience as one of the most sought-after on-screen performers to bring hard-edged allure to the looks stylist David Vandewal put her in, equal parts delicate and provocative.

The shoot comes ahead of the release of Cotillard's new movie, The Dark Knight Rises, which is released on July 20. Cotillard poses in shades of just black, a vampy lipstick and a different fierce pose in each in luxurious outfit by Christian Dior, Balenciaga , Bottega Veneta, Jil Sander and Thakoon.

{collaboration} Jimmy Choo's Arty Collaboration with Rob Pruitt

The first images of Jimmy Choo's team-up with contemporary artist Rob Pruitt have been revealed, with the eagerly anticipated collection comprising shoes and bags adorned with the artist's trademark panda motifs;
and the recently unveiled line showcases highlights such as the iconic Jimmy Choo Anouk pump reimagined with the artist's signature use of dégradé color in orange, pink, and yellow overlaid with French lace.

Pruitt, who is best known for his glittering panda bear paintings and large-scale dégradé canvases, created several original designs that were realized for the capsule collection which makes nods to his playful artistic themes. The artist created a unique duo of angel and devil pandas symbolizing the dual personalities of the Jimmy Choo woman, and these feature heavily in the line of 19 styles of shoes, bags and accessories. Pruitt’s line will be part of Choo’s 2013 Cruise collection, with products set to hit Jimmy Choo boutiques and online this November.

"The panda is a recurring image seen throughout the body of my artwork. It's a symbol that reminds us both to tread lightly and to appreciate the adorable. They represent the harmony of yin and yang," said the artist.

{editorial} Judging People Based on Their Shoes

Recently, a study performed by researchers at the University of Kansas set out to see just how many personal characteristics people can glean from others, just by looking at a picture of their shoes. In the study, 63 subjects were asked to look at over 208 shoes, and guessed certain personality characteristics correctly at a 90% rate. Obviously, the more expensive your shoes are, the more likely you earn a higher salary; the more outrageous your shoes are, the more likely you're an extrovert. But, more surprisingly, the more practical your shoes are, the friendlier you are; ankle boots signal aggressive types; uncomfortable shoes mean a calm personality; the more pristine the shoes, the more self-conscious the person. People who always wear boring shoes were self-described as 'aloof and repressive' and found it difficult to form relationships.

{collections} Prada Resort 2013

Miuccia Prada decided to parade her women’s resort show three
days before her men’s show in Milan on the same runway. And no wonder: The collections, shown on Sunday evening, mirrored each other in silhouette, fabrications and Seventies sportif mood. Prada luxed up the women’s version of athletic tanks, rendering hers in fur, along with short-sleeve fur jackets that resembled two-tone polo shirts.

{my shopping bag} Whimsical Canvas

Tap into your whimsical side this summer and try the Eco-friendly whimsy bag. This stylish all purpose tote can be used to carry books or groceries from the store {in style} or as a gift bag. The versatility makes this bag an incredible gift, as they come with open or zipper tops that can also be used as a diaper bag, or in so many other ways. A high quality canvas ensures its durability in addition to an amazing look. With the use of these totes we can reduce the amount of plastic that normally carries our groceries from the store into our homes.
