{collections} Alice Temperley Resort 2013

Alice Temperley took her cues from the South of France in the Fifties and Sixties, as well as the elegance of continental women like Sophia Loren. The result is a ladylike collection of A-line dresses and skirts, some with pleated grosgrain ribbon details, knitwear with French lace panels, pussy bow blouses and silk dresses with digital prints inspired by jewels.

{style} First Look at Madonna's Costumes

Among the numerous costumes that Madonna will be wearing throughout her MDNA World Tour, is a masculine-inspired look by Jean Paul Gaultier featuring a corset-style top.
For the pop star's ninth world tour, the French designer drew upon a now-iconic costume he'd designed for her in the past.

"We played with the ideas of a suit and a corset. But the corset is now like a cage," Jean Paul Gaultier outlined. "What I have done this time is a nod to the conical bra corset of the Blond Ambition tour but reinterpreted in 3D, in patent leather on the outside with metallic leather on the inside. It's all about masculine and feminine, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier classics reinterpreted for 2012.

The Material Girl’s parade of costume changes also includes outfits from Jeremy Scott, shoes from Prada and Miu Miu and pieces from Alexander Wang. Dolce & Gabbana made suits for the band and background vocalists, Fausto Puglisi created menacing bandolier vests and rams head masks for the backup dancers and even J Brand whipped up custom-made jeans.

{collaboration} Missoni Loves Havaianas

Italian brand Missoni, which specializes in original printed knitwear, is collaborating with Brazilian brand Havaianas for a high-end capsule collection of thong sandals.

Sporting iconic Missoni motifs, the thong sandals are composed of leftover pieces of the Brazilian brand's multicolored rubber flip flops, which are then put together to create various forms of zigzag patchwork. One of the new models for 2012, the "Missoni Loves Havaianas Slim," is adorned with several jewel-style lucky charms and will be available in select retail outlets in mid-June. The strap, available in purple or black, is decorated with charms in the form of four-leaf clovers and ladybugs.

{collections} Missoni Resort 2013

Angela Missoni found inspiration in Chinese porcelain and British pottery as she designed her fresh, feminine Missoni resort collection, which put the focus on the waist. A sleeveless knit dress with a brushstroke motif was embroidered with contrasting sinuous details, while a padded, cropped cotton jacket was paired with a stiff silk satin skirt, all done in abstract prints that mimic the decorations of Oriental vases.

{sign the petition} Vogue.it Against Pro-Anorexia Websites & Blogs

TheFashioniStyle has become an ambassador for this important message to help fight eating disorders such as anorexia (Ana) and bulimia (Mia).

We CAN stop pro ana and mia. Sign the petitionbecome an ambassador or simply spread the word. Although this blog features images of models who’s body sizes are much smaller than the average woman’s, and is an advocate for an industry obsessed with perfection, we DO NOT stand for the glorification of eating disorders.

An eating disorder is not a lifestyle choice, it is a mental illness.

If you believe that you, a friend or a loved one may be suffering from an eating disorder, please visit any of these associations for help:

The National Eating Disorders Association.
National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders
www.anad.org

Vogue Italia’s Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani, during her Harvard speech, underlined how we all have a responsibility to fight eating disorders. All of us, and especially young people need to become a point of reference for those that don’t have the strength to face these terrible eating disorders.
"On learning that Facebook is considered today the culprit of anorexia, and since I believe it is impossible that a social network alone may be held responsible for the spreading of such phenomenon, I did some research and found that there are countless pro-anorexia websites and blogs that not only support the disorder, but also urge young people to be competitive about their “body shape”.

Vogue Italia, the magazine par excellence that deals with and promotes aesthetics and beauty, has decided to make use of its  authority and its readers on the web (over one million of contacts per month), to battle against anorexia and collect signatures with the final goal of shutting such sites down.

Fashion has been always blamed as one of the culprits of anorexia, and our commitment  is the proof that fashion is ready to get on the frontline and struggle against the disorder."

Franca Sozzani

===

Ana embodies nervous anorexia
and is the protagonist of many blogs advocating ana – pro-ana.

The authors of such on-line secret diaries talk about Ana as if she was a dear friend, they defend her when she is attacked by outsiders and look up at her as a symbol of perfect beauty.

In reality, Ana is a serious illness that can lead to death and such blogs are extremely dangerous because they list detailed instructions on how to become anorexic with their authors supporting each other in the effort of achieving their ultimate goal: lose weight.

They teach how to vomit, give advice on which laxatives and diuretics to use, praise and admire those of them who are able to reject food and bad-mouth anybody who tries to make them aware that Ana is actually an illness and that they should look for help. The problem is that these blogs are easily accessible to everybody, especially those confused teenage girls in search for a solution to their complex adolescence related problems.

Rebecka Peebles, professor of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimora surveyed 180 blogs pro-anorexia (pro-ana) and is now launching a warning to the international community.
The survey published on the American Journal of Public Healthdescribes pro-ana diaries as being extremely worrying and dangerous especially because the information they contain is easily available and accessible to everybody with an internet connection: 80% of pro-ana web-sites have interactive applications – to count calories, for instance; 85% of them publishes pictures of extremely skinny and emaciated women to serve as a source of inspiration – called thinspiration; 83% suggests ways to loose weight quickly and gain complete control over the body until reaching the final goal of weighting 45 kilos or even less.
Lastly, 24% of such sites have been stamped as extremely dangerous for its readers.
It should be noted, however, that such web-sites are calls for help: "For many patients, internet becomes a tool to express their feelings rather than doing so through the most traditional healing methods, such as psychotherapy" explain the authors of the survey.

It is of paramount importance to explain teenage girls that being skinny does not equal being perfect and to promote beauty standards which  start from and are all about being healthy.

ABA (Associazione Bulimia Anoressia), an Association of eating disorders founded by Fabiola de Clercq in 1990 is one of the most solid and trustworthy associations taking care of teenage girls who have fallen victims of anorexia or bulimia and have understood that they needed help. To contact the Association, call the following toll-free number: 800 16 56 16.

{collections} Just Cavalli Resort 2013

Roberto Cavalli found his latest inspiration on a recent trip to India, thus his Just Cavalli collection was full of prints of sacred elephant motifs, temples, exotic florals and, of course, plenty of animal patterns, from leopard to crocodile. Still, he stayed true to his signature, infusing a hip-hop vibe that came through in jewelry, baseball caps and silhouettes that ranged from baggy shorts to body-hugging dresses.

{beauty} How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes Like a Pro!!

Cleaning makeup brushes is a necessity. Each time you use a makeup brush, it picks up both makeup and any natural oils on your face, as well as any other products that are on your face. Then there is the dust in the air that just lands on a resting brush. Bacteria can make a home in dirty makeup brushes, so this buildup must be removed on a regular basis. MakeupGeek shows us here how to do it like a Pro.
