{magazine cover} Laura Kampman Lands the Cat Woman Cover of Vogue Italy

Laura Kampman lands the cat-woman cover of february Vogue Italy shoot by the incomparable Steven Meisel. Laura is wearing a Blumarine dress, hat from Ellen Christine Millinery, collar Tessa Matthiasm gloves LaCrasia and Lulu nails.

Alluring enigma. Indefinable like a creature from a dream world, yet sophisticated like a diva from bygone times. Real and illusory at once. The makeup is intense thanks to 3 Couleurs, n. 091, a kit with a foundation cream and two eye shadows (mat and luminous), and Diorshow 360, a mascara based on shaping microwaxes, with a rotating applicator that has a brushing effect on the lashes.

{collections} Victoria Beckham's New Line, Hitting Stores this Spring

For spring, the designer unveiled a new collection with a slightly lower price point called Victoria, Victoria Beckham. The prices may not be "affordable," but with a range between $450 and $1250, they're certainly more attainable for most people than her main line.

While the dresses in Beckham's main collection are form-fitting and look like the kinds of pieces one wears when one wants to be taken very seriously, the dresses in the Victoria collection are much more carefree. Beckham was initially inspired by the cartoon character Emily the Strange, and the pieces overall have a playful, young aesthetic -- from color-block details to cat prints.

“This new line serves to channel my inner girl - it is fun and young with a distinct sense of humour. The Victoria range can't help but make you smile with its energy and personality.” Victoria said about her new collection.

The collection is now available in the U.K. at Harvey Nichols stores and will be available this spring at Bergdorf Goodman and online at Net-a-Porter, and Beckham recently released a sneak peek teaser for the collection, which does good job of conveying the cheerier sensibility of the line.

{trends} Pre-Fall 2012 Trend: Essential Coats

Coats may be a basic necessity, but the ones shown for pre-fall looked anything but. Jeweled embroidery, major pleating and bold prints were just a few of the toppers.

{style muse} Kate Middleton: The Belle of the Ball

New to the public’s eye, this young princess can’t seem to stop turning heads wherever she is. Whether a charity event or a red carpet event, Middleton finds a way to pull all the attention onto her every time she walks into the room.  And I’m not talking about Britney Spears or Lady Gaga attention, I’m talking classic, stunning, and utterly composed attention. This type of reputation makes her the belle of the ball and an inspiration to all of us.

Middleton is commonly found wearing ensembles by Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren and Reiss. Her signature dress is the wrap dress, with a boat neck line and a small tied belt around the waist. Most of the clothes Middleton is pictured in have a sort of Audrey Hepburn appeal to them, with a hint of British royalty. She’ll combine a simple, sophisticated dress, nothing revealing of course, with an embellished hat or shoes by popular British designers. She is an inspiration to us all showing that classy and put together ladies always land the prince.

She is classy, ladylike and she totally looks like a Queen to be!!!

{live from the runway} Stéphane Rolland Spring Couture 2012

Stéphane Rolland celebrated the fifth anniversary of his eponymous label with a collection that distilled the essence of his boldly architectural style. Cue a sequence of sharp column gowns, some softened with panels of mille-feuille-like chiffon, in a palette of ivory, black or scarlet, set off by chunky gold jewelry, belts and hardware on platform sandals. Rolland pulled out all the stops for the grand finale, which featured Yasmin Le Bon laboring her way down the catwalk in a red jersey wedding gown that required 49 yards of fabric and two assistants to handle its massive train.

{news} High Heels, High Danger?

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Yesterday, Good Morning America showed an interesting report about how wearing high heels can impact your health...ohh nooooo!!! "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" I refused to stop wearing my heels!!!

Fashionistas of the world, it’s true. The pain you feel while walking in your 6-inch Louboutins and sky-high Prada pumps is a symptom of the real damage high heels may be doing to your body, new research finds. “The structure of the foot is just not meant to be crammed in the shoe that way,” Dr. Braxton Little, a podiatrist at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., told ABC News. “It just puts the body in a very unnatural position.”

{news} Haute Couture Gold Bullion Bar for Valentine's day?

As Forbes puts it: "investing in the precious yellow metal allows for hedging against inflation, while diversifying your holdings and pleasing a loved one all at the same time". Best selling point I've ever heard!!!

Jean Paul Gaultier has released 5,000 gold bars and the limited edition "collector's item" comes engraved with a heart, rays and Gaultier's name on it. Priced at $1,826.33 (plus a $25 handling fee), the gold bar is 10 percent above gold's current commodity price of $1,650 an ounce, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"Never before has a fashion icon designed a gold ingot" Terry Hanlon, president of Dillon Gage Metals, said in a press statement. "The Gaultier bar is a one-of-a-kind, limited-quantity collector’s piece that not only is a great investment but it will also become a piece of history."

{editorial} Meet Roberto Cavalli

Last weekend, designer Roberto Cavalli started writing almost daily, a column on his website and I love him a lot more now for that...he shows us his true soul and essence and how charismatic and sensitive he is!!  On his first post he tells us a little bit about himself:

"From now on I will write here…I’ll be here with you, every day, or nearly so.
I want to win you over, so, tell me, what do you want to hear from me?
I have many many things to tell you about my life… which I call “MY ADVENTURE ”
I have so many things to tell you, so many things you don’t know about me.
For example, that I came into fashion for a chance to meet all the beautiful women… Strange, all my colleagues are gay! ...Are you thinking this is not real? I swear it is me, I want to entertain you, and I need to get new emotions…"

And this one is one of my favorites:

"Today Was a Quiet Day.I have not told you about my dog, a German shepherd, his name is Lupo (Wolf)!
I’ve had many different dog breeds in my life, I loved them all, but the German shepherd “IS THE DOG ….” its the true friend that you expect to have when you buy a dog.
I’ve had a few German shepherds, and I’ve always named them Lupo.
Seven months ago, one morning I woke up with a wish to have a new Lupo……. a new friend to spend every day with, who is happy when I’m happy.
Now Lupo is ten months old, and we love each other.
I am in Paris right now, we flew here together from Milan.
There are moments when he looks at me and it seems that he wants to say something, but of course he can’t – maybe he is just teaching me that when you love somebody you can speak through your eyes!"

You can read all his daily posts at RobertoCavalliBlog.com he is charming, unique and entertaining! Loving it!!

{live from the runway} Valentino Spring Couture 2012

Oh, for the simple life! But how to reconcile its embrace with the extravagance of couture?

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli did so by infusing their couture en plein air with a soupcon of Marie Antoinette at the Petit Trianon. The result was a Valentino collection with a surface so lovely and gentle that it masked the lineup’s core bravado.

{beauty} YSL New Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres: Lipstick, Gloss & Stain in One

A revolutionary new lip product that combines the texture and shine of a gloss with the long-wear of a stain. Vernis à Lèvres (whose name plays on the French words for nail polish, or vernis à ongles) has a formula containing what YSL executives call “Lifeproof Color Emulsion.” It gives a “real nude texture, and at the same time you have lasting color and this new shine that is unique,” said Nathalie Durán, YSL Perfumes and Beauty’s deputy managing director.

Vernis à Lèvres’ applicator resembles a small spatula for a precise application, she explained. The line includes signature YSL hues such as fuchsia, red and orange. Each glossy stain retails for $32. Available at Sephora.com.

{my shopping bag} Victoria's Secret Designer Collection

Victoria’s Secret launched its first high end lingerie line yesterday, called The Victoria’s Secret Designer Collection. and it's nearly sold out already. Described by the brand as "exquisite, timeless, delicate and glamorous", several of the key pieces were shown during the brand's latest show in November, although the project was a kept a secret until now and will replace the luxury lingerie labels that are stocked in most VS stores.

The line features chiffon baby dolls, unlined bras and matching thong trimmed with European lace, ribbons and embroideries. "We took it in-house because we have a design team that has such a passion for lingerie, and they differentiate Victoria's Secret from any other brand," the brand's president and chief marketing officer Ed Razek told WWD. The idea was to attract a more affluent and sophisticated consumer.

Bras retail from $98 to $158; undies are $38 to $68; baby dolls and teddies are $158 to $218, and the kimono and merry widow are $120 and $298. Available online at Victoriassecret.com

{live from the runway} Elie Saab Spring Couture 2012

The Beirut-based couturier got right down to business with his spring show, his first look announcing the collection’s laser focus on gossamer fabrics and floral embroideries that glistened with sequins and crystals, like dew on a hedge.

All the blossoms and sugary tones gave this collection a young, even girly spirit. Short, vaguely Fifties cocktail dresses with flaring skirts were a newer shape for Saab, and surely will appeal to the junior Hollywood set. Some had rosette embroideries that hugged the shoulders.

{live from the runway} Givenchy Spring Couture 2012

Riccardo Tisci poured many of his passions into 10 couture dresses. There’s Fritz Lang’s 1927 “Metropolis,” a favorite movie of his since childhood; “Aelita,” an obscure Russian science-fiction title from the same era whose score is said to have influenced Germany’s techno movement, and lastly, pushing Givenchy’s atelier to experiment with new techniques.

The result was spectacular, building on the dark romance Tisci has brought to Givenchy over the past seven years. He also added new elements, including a looser line, bias cutting, a downpour of crystals and even a pair of flowing black trousers. “It’s a very sparkly collection, which, in a way, is very couture,” the designer said.

The workmanship on crocodile looks was astonishing: 350 hours to disassemble a skin, bleach it, re-dye it and remount it on tulle for a sweeping gown. It was time well spent to achieve that soigné Art Deco glamour.
