{first look} Coach And Tony Duquette’s Jewelry Collaboration

With his lush, over-the-top costume jewelry, designer Tony Duquette redefined Old Hollywood glamor in the 1930s and ’40s. He continued to produce beautiful statement jewelry and interior décor up until his death in 1999 and was the first American artist to ever be honored with his own one-man exhibition at the Louvre.
Now, Coach has teamed up with Duquette’s company (run by the artist’s business partner, Hutton Wilkinson) on a jewelry collection that reflects the American icon’s one-of-a-kind aesthetic. To jump-start their research, Coach’s team visited Dawnridge, the elaborate Duquette estate in Los Angeles, where they studied the designer’s archives and gleaned inspiration from his decorative signatures (such as sunbursts and exotic animals). The final capsule contains over 20 pieces that mix semi-precious stones and enamel accents with bold gold plating. And everything retails for less than $500. We especially love the cute insect-themed stick pins—and for around $50 each, they’re certainly affordable works of art.
Tony Duquette for Coach will be available online on January 18 and will be available at Coach boutiques nationwide on February 1.
