{favorite finds} Fashionable Shapewear I Love

Shapewear Meets Fashion

Having my baby: is a blessing. Increasing my calories intake during the winter: is almost a necessity. Looking like a walking taco with all the stuff that we have to wear during the winter and having the muffin top over my pants: is not.

But finally, someone figured it out. Lissé leggings are designed with a hidden control panel, not to tight (I could never wore any shapewear because a back problem I have), not bulky and not weird like an undergarment. They never roll up pushing your fat to other locations, never fall down which means you never have to adjust them (while you balance your baby, your handbag, talk on the phone and walk your dog) and they hold you in at the right places. All this, while I feel that the compression essentially is training my body to get back to its "original" form.

They can be worn each day as a foundation, a layering piece, or on its own. They come in different styles, lengths and colors. I got* a velvet thight ankle pair they are dressy but still comfortable and I like the velvet boot cut to replace my old yoga pants that I use almost all day.
Let’s not forget those annoying tables with A,B,C,D on them, that I never understood and made me fill my drawers with tons of shapewear that I couldn’t fit on and of course, I couldn’t return as they are consider undergarments. Lissé leggings come in regular s/m/l sizes, period.
I haven’t felt so thinner, lighter, smoother and sexier since I was fifteen and had every piece of my body on the right place.

{accessorizing} The Art of Wearing Hats

{accessorizing} The Aer of Wearing Hats

I believe that wearing hats is an art and you either have it in you or you don't. Sadly, I don't have it or maybe my head is way too big.  But I love them, and I wish one day my head shrinks and decides to embrace the art {so I can wear one of my picks above}.

But Jessica Parker definitely has it in her. She knows how to wear any hat, from fedoras to extravagant pieces, she always carries them with elegance and pride. Some of my all time favorite hat-wearers are Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy.

I've found a great article in anothe great blog about hats, Already Pretty: Flattering Hats for Every Head I'm sure you are going to enjoy it.

Gucci hat, $450
Hat, $398
Jennifer Ouellette hat, $255
Miu Miu hat, $420
Eugenia Kim hat, $330
Lanvin hat, €689

{accessorizing} Iris Apfel Jewelry Collection

The eccentric 90-year-old figure of the arsty New York, Iris Apfel, has launched a line of accessories. Yoox.com asked her to work on a jewelry collection full of glamorous vintage-inspired pieces and a few treasures drawn from her personal collection.

In 1948 she married Carl Apfel. Two years later they launched the textile firm Old World Weavers and ran it until they retired in 1992. During this time, Iris Apfel took part in many design restoration projects, including work at the White House for nine presidents: Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Reagan, and Clinton. Since she retired, she has become a "rare bird", a reference to the iconoclastic New York fashion.

I
n 2005, the Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted a retrospective to his exuberant closet. Right now, Albert Maysles is making a film about her that will be released in 2012.

Since buying her first piece of jewellery, a rhinestone-studded brass brooch, from a shop in Greenwich Village 79 years ago, her passion for accessories, eyewear and mythical bracelets are her personal signature: without them, she feels "lost".

Iris Apfel mixes designer clothes and vintage or ethnic pieces, enhanced by accessories like scarves and especially baroque jewelry. A passion inherited from her very chic mother, who, with a simple black dress, created 20 outfits.

{exhibitions} Audrey Hepburn Retrospective in Rome

The impeccable style of Audrey Hepburn (my favorite all time style icon) is the center of the exhibition that opens its doors today, at the Museum of Ara Pacisin in Rome, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of her famous film, Breakfast at Tiffany's (which is one of my favorite movies). An exclusive video will reveal moments of her private life away from the scene.

The retrospective reveals many of the clothes that made the actress a style icon, with her oversize sunglasses and scarves. Considering the link between the life of Audrey and the history of fashion, the images will be accompanied by some garments and accessories created by Givenchy, Valentino, and many others.

The highlight of the exhibition is the green Vespa, with which her partner, Gregory Peck, drove her through the streets of Rome. In the mid-1980s, Audrey Hepburn had left Rome to settle here in Switzerland, where she died of cancer in 1993 at age 63. In tribute to her role as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, a portion of the ticket price will be donated to the organization to fund a project against child malnutrition in Chad.

{the bloggers' box} Winter Is On It's Way...

There is something about winter, the soft light and white snow that
make me want to trade my navy trench and red lipstick for pretty pale
clothing and make-up.

I love winter white coats, beige and pink
cashmere sweaters, and light pink lipsticks. And where better than to
wear such things than the ballet?

{trends} Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2012

For spring 2012 designers are inspired by diverse influences, showcasing a range of
styles and lifestyles, from free and playful and light and breezy, to contemporary classics. Colors likewise reflect these differing moods, encapsulating vivid brights, soft muted tones and fun-loving pastels.

Provocative Tangerine Tango, an enticing juicy orange, is a vivacious and appealing refresher to enliven anyone's outlook this spring. Providing a jolt of energy, Solar Power radiates warmth and cheer.

Fanciful Bellflower, a distinct ornamental purple, exudes uniqueness and creativity. Scintillating and sexy, Cabaret is a sensual and intense rosy-red — an excellent
choice for summer clothing and cosmetics.

Sodalite Blue, a classic maritime hue, brings order and calmness to mind. Like an
anchor to a ship, this dependable shade works with every color in the palette.

Cockatoo, a tactile blue-green, is sure to make your spirits soar. This unusual hue
adds a whimsical touch to the palette and will surely make a statement this spring.

Margarita, a piquant yellow-green, lifts spirits with its refreshing and stimulating glow. Reminiscent of a blossoming garden on an early spring morning, fragrant Sweet Lilac evokes the fresh scents of summer. This delicate pinkish lilac adds a touch of romance
to any wardrobe.

Natural versatile neutrals add practicality to this season's brights. Driftwood, an
adaptable blend of beige and gray with a slightly weathered feel, and Starfish, a
perfect warm summer neutral, complement all colors featured in this season's top 10.

{news} Roll the Runway Plastic! Miss Piggy is here!

With a memorable appearance at Opening Ceremony's Fashion's Night Out, a new line of cosmetics from MAC, and a stint as a judge on Project Runway, this stylish pig is staging a major comeback after a decade away from the silver screen.

The hubbub, of course, is timed to promote the latest "Muppet" movie, in which the blonde starlet plays a powerful Vogue editor.

But the latest case of Piggy-fever may be the best yet; for the November issue of InStyle, Miss Piggy was decked out in custom creations from six major fashion talents: Prabal Gurung, Suno, Giles & Brother, Jason Wu, Brian Atwood and Opening Ceremony.

{as seen on} SoleMate High Heeler

I hate when I walk through the grass and my most precious Louboutin heels are buried, not only because it is almost impossible to walk like a diva, but because with every step I feel that I am ruing my shoes=investment. But I found this bright invention
that
prevents heels from sinking in grass.

It's called the The SoleMates High Heeler® and although, I would not use them every day, I'm willing to sacrifice my shoes' looks during a wedding in a garden or the beach, and not ruin them for life.Besides they look very little and I'm sure you can slip them inside your clutch once you are done walking over those difficult surfaces.
I haven't tried them yet but I'm sure they work and the good thing is that they are available in black and clear.
